FARMINGDALE, Maine — Police are hunting for a man who broke into a salon early Thursday morning and escaped with the cash register.
The suspect slipped into the Jungle hair salon through an open window, according to Trooper Christopher Rogers of the Maine State Police.
Rogers believes the suspect escaped on the Kennebec River Rail Trail, as the salon is close to the trail that runs from Augusta to Gardiner.
The register contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and the salon doesn’t have surveillance cameras, so police have no description of the robber.
“We’ve got nothing,” Rogers said. “It’s kind of a shot in the dark.”
The trooper is hopeful that any area residents who may have seen anything can help police in the investigation.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact state police at 624-7076, or visit www.maine.gov/dps/mps to leave an anonymous tip.

“man whole” Proof reading anyone?
“…the salon doesn’t have surveillance cameras, so police have no description of the robber.”
How do they know it’s not a woman?
Robber would be a generic term. What’s the alternative, robberess?
The “perp” probably will be the one running down the Kennebec River Trail carrying a cash register……………………..
Cash left in a register overnight with an open window? Asking for it.
