PARIS, Maine — A Fryeburg man pleaded not guilty to molesting two infants and possessing child pornography Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.
Luke Edmunds, 22, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of possession of sexually explicit materials and unlawful sexual contact.
According to an affidavit by Maine State Police investigator Frank Stepnick, Edmunds was living in Fryeburg with a family member when police traced an Internet address sharing child pornography on file-sharing networks. Police subpoenaed FairPoint Communications and found the Internet account registered to Edmunds’ grandfather.
The older man reported that he didn’t know how to use the Internet, police said, and Stepnick figured the file sharing had been by Edmunds, who was living there. Edmunds admitted to sharing the files, according to Stepnick. Stepnick was later told by two people that Edmunds had sexually touched two infants.
Edmunds is being held at Cumberland County Jail in Portland on $500 cash bail. If released, he is barred from any contact with children under 16 years, as well as any use of computers or the Internet.

Agreed, I am hoping they left out about 6 zeros.
$500 cash bail…just cast him down with the sodomites and be done with it. advice for Luke – don’t…wait DROP the soap!
Death Penalty…..nuff said
Sick, sick, sick!!!! and bail, seriously?!
Another candidate for the “how low can you go” sweepstakes. Though I think he takes the prize. Two infants, really? I believe there is a special place in Hell for perverts like this who molest children. The child porn is bad enough, sheesh!

Yes of course this is the new america, let’s hang the man and find him guilty before the trial let’s not allow bail…and let’s assume the police are telling the truth and the grandfather isn’t telling a lie. God bless the united states of America
NO, hang him if he is found guilty.

• This is a terrible crime, and AFTER the man is convicted, he deserves just punishment. That is IF he is convicted.
I am equally bothered that so many folks want to do away with the “presumed innocent” part of our justice process. That is what they do in countries like Somalia, North Korea, and China. In those places the suspect is arrested, and then he goes to jail. No inconvenience of a trial, and no benefit of doubt afforded by judge and jury.
Bail (as originally proposed) was intended to insure the appearance of the SUSPECT at his trial. Currently it is being used as punishment before conviction. Arraignments (where a suspect is formerly charged, and bail is set) often occur before a defendant has opportunity to consult with his attorney. indeed in indigent cases the attorney is appointed at the arraignment.
Sure sexual molestation of children is disgusting. My point is simply that suggesting the death penalty or denying bail on the basis of a unproven charge is also disgusting.
I understand that any suspect is presumed innocent. And I agree that bail should not be used to punish, but, and I mean, BUT, when a crime is as serious as sexually touching an INFANT, then bail could and maybe, should be used to protect the public from a potentially dangerous predator. If there were one accusation about one child, I might not be as adamant. Two complaints, involving two different babies, along with accusations of sharing illicit files, is very concerning to me as a parent and grandparent. I am afraid I feel as the poster above about what would/should be done if that were my child or grandchild. I think he should have been held at a higher bail, until he appeared before a judge, was appointed or hired an attorney, and had an appropriate bail hearing where his release vs. safety of the community could have been addressed.
Are you freakin serious!!!!???? You have got to be kidding me!!!! $500 bail and he molested 2 babies!!!??? WTF!!! Hang the POS!!!!
The law is not strict enough to protect our children. But, I believe if these judges and what not would have a child that this happened to them they would entail much more stiffer fines and jail times. But, until that happens these people will have a light sentence and more and more children will be hurt. When they wake up and realize there are a lot of children being hurt by sick people like this one. Telling them they can’t have access to the internet is something a parent does to punish his child. Instead lock them up for a long, long time.
Why did this sickining thing get bail at all?! wth is wrong with this state and the so-called Judges we are suppose to trust?
$500 bail? Adults who assault one another get upwards of $10-50K cash bail?
It is arguable this pervert is far more dangerous than the usual suspects who are charged with assault.
When he IS found guilty…..trust me, his time in prison with the crime(s) he will be found guilty of will ensure he is at the bottom of a VERY ugly food chain.
500.00 It should be 5000000.00 Where do they grow the walnuts? As I said before, fair trial, then fair hanging!! That’s the only cure!!
One twisted, sick individual! What makes these people tick anyway? The punishment these people get is all but laughable, the damage their actions have on the victims deserve HARSH punishment not a tap on the hand and registering as a damn pervert!
lets ahh bail him out take a lil walk in the woods not waste money keeping him in >=[

We’ve got to start protesting or something. 500.oo? What a bunch of BS. It is just about making money.. no justice involved. Who will defend the children? Freaking sad.
Now, let’s see. What part of his body should be cut off?
Save us from having to see his name in the papers again and just lock him up for the rest of his life.
