BELFAST, Maine — The woman who reportedly witnessed a man engaging in a solo sex act in his jeep parked close to the Troy Howard Middle School cross-country trails last week has come forward to give a statement to police.
She spoke Friday afternoon to Chief Mike McFadden of the Belfast Police Department, who said that he was writing up the report and likely would bring charges against the man soon.
Her statement was necessary because she was the only witness to the Wednesday afternoon incident, and while she called the school district right away to report what she had seen, officials there did not take down her name or contact information. Police have been urging the witness to come forward so they could bring charges against the man, who was identified thanks to video surveillance technology. He confessed to the matter earlier this week, according to McFadden.
The chief said Friday that the man’s jeep was not parked in the lot behind the middle school, as had been previously reported in the BDN, but instead he had backed his vehicle into the woods and parked it right next to the footpath, which is adjacent to some of the school’s athletic fields.
The incident happened just 20 minutes before the field hockey team was slated to arrive for practice, he said.
More information about the incident and possible charges against the man should be available next week, according to McFadden.

Maybe people who are familiar with the location can tell us if they think it was just a stupid mistake. This happened in the daytime So I have my doubts he was unaware of the school, athletic fields, footpaths, etc. in his surroundings.

I hope we hear from somebody. On google maps I can see two ball diamond fields behind the school and it looks like you have to drive through the school parking lot to reach those. Tree cover makes it hard to find foot paths in satellite imagery. So far I can’t see any other way someone could drive into the area. The other approaches I see are driveways which end at somebody’s house. I see lots of open fields so I think anybody going in there would definitely see the school.

The man who is accused of doing this was a school employee up until this
incident. I would think that parents of children in that school
district would like to have been notified by now, as well as informed
of the fact that this school employee kept a supply of pornographic
materials in his jeep at all times including while parking on school
property for work. And this person was an employee who was in direct
company of children in the school district every day. I know the article
does not state any of this, but it should because it is true.
Oh please, I’m sure no other school employee ever has looked at porn. And what he kept in his vehicle is his business, and no one else’s. There is no indication that this person ever did anything inappropriate to or with children, including showing them porn. He clearly made a poor choice in timing and location for what he was doing, and he probably should lose his job over it, but unless/until there is more information than has been released, let’s not turn him into some sort of child endangering perv who abused children.
BDN, please do not publish the man’s name or picture. This is something everyone does, though perhaps not in public or near a school. Let it go. It isn’t newsworthy.

you do it in the privacy of your home. When ever you want, in your bedroom with the door shut if kids are home. You do not do it in public, especially near a school where you might be seen.

Hello! This was on school grounds. It was near a public walk trail used by many. There was a girls sports practice just minutes after Pee Wee was discovered. Trying to make this into something that is ok is absurd. A pervert is a pervert. Period.
