HOULTON, Maine — A Houlton man was sent to a Bangor hospital on Saturday evening after an all-terrain vehicle crash in the community.

Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald said Monday that the crash took place at approximately 10:20 p.m.

According to MacDonald, Jeremy Young, 30, was operating a 2009 Polaris Sportsman ATV in the parking lot of Theriault’s Equipment on North Street.

There were no witnesses to the crash and the cause remains under investigation.

But MacDonald said that it was raining and the pavement was wet at the time of the accident. Also, Warden Kevin Pelkey, the investigator on the case, said that speed was a contributing factor.

Young was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries. Young was listed in serious condition Monday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

No further information was released.

  1. Do you even know the area they are talking about? Do you even know Jeremy or his family? I think your remarks are ignorant and uncalled for. My thoughts are with you Larry, Carolyn, Jason, and Laura. Hope Jeremy is making progress every day.

  2. You are very ignorant this is someones life and you talking about sueing and private property!! Jeremy is one of the nicest kind hearted men Ive ever meet. Sending my thoughts and prayers Jeremy!!! Thinking of your family also <3

  3. It is really sad that our society has come to a point where, when something like this happens, within a few comments someone brings up suing.

    Hope the Gentleman recovers OK.

  4. So, your jehovah actually frowns upon his followers who ride ATV’s? I thought he only mandated them not receive blood transfusions? I think you need to go back to reading your watch tower magazine and getting doors slammed in your face

    1. In northern Maine there are wheeler trails all over the darn place.  Unfortunately, some of these wheelers go on private property to turn around or get back in sync.  There’s not much room to do the wheeler thing on Theriault’s lot, so I assume he went there to turn around for his next trip up the wheeler trail.  It appears that he is recovering…so that’s a blessing!

  5. I was truley saddened to read this this morning on here.  I  am a friend of Jeremy’s from college and he  is an amazing person very willing to help out anyone . He is such a great guy and very kind hearted. My thoughs and prayers are with Jeremy , Jason and his family. PLEASE NOTE AND TO ADD Ronthegreat YOU REALLY should know what your talking about before you speak . Your comments are rude . How would you like it if this new atrical was about you and someone wrote that about you huh. I bet you would not like it.

  6. Its the parking lot of Nortrax not Theriault Equipment!! Its very easy to read the signs in the yard here. They have been going across the parking lot for years since ive been here, signs do not do any GOOD!! wheelers will go where they want to.. Its pass at your own risk ANYWHERE!!!

  7. wishing for a speedy recovery for you. Jeremy is a very good guy, as well the rest of his family. Been a long time friend for many many years.
