SACO, Maine — A broken brake light led to two York County women earning underage drinking charges during a Saturday traffic stop, according to police.
Chantelle Jarrett, 19, of Biddeford and Shauna Lessard, 20, of Saco were passengers in a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old woman when they were pulled over, Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland said.
While the driver was not intoxicated, according to Holland, police smelled alcohol coming from both Lessard and Jarrett.
That led police to charge the duo with possession of alcohol by a minor, Holland said. They were not arrested.

A broken taillight always leads to more income for the State. It’s a good thing we have too little crime around here that bored officers can make some money babysitting people.
yep, more examples of the gestapo stopping people for victimless crimes (brake light) while criminals are out doing real crime.
for example: My car was broken into in Augusta, the thieves took my stereo, speakers and all the toll change i had in my center console, along with breaking my window.
filed a police report, and didn’t ever hear back from the police about it.
yet i see them every single day sitting at the rotary waiting for a citizen to put a toe out of line.
I see them sitting in the cemetery next to sams club waiting for someone to turn left at the right hand only stop. have they no respect for the dead?
