LEWISTON, Maine — A man was injured in the downtown area Monday afternoon when a woman began to drive away as he attempted to enter her car, causing him to be dragged along the ground, according to witnesses.

A woman walking her son home from school around 2:30 p.m. said the man was a passenger getting into a car outside the nearby Community Credit Union on Pine Street.

The driver stepped on the gas and sped off before the man got into the car. The man was briefly hooked to the car as the woman drove off. He landed on the pavement.

The witness said the man and the woman driver were seen driving through the credit union’s ATM before the man went inside the bank.

The woman driver did not stop as people rushed over to the injured man.

  1. An observation, looks to me like he’s wearing a hoodie while the rest of the crowd is in summer attire.   Could the woman have been driving the getaway car?  More to this story, I’m sure.

    1.  Or, he’s not from around here, and his body isn’t acclimated to our fall temps. My friend visited me from Florida one July, and was so cold, she wore hoodies the entire time while I was in tank tops & shorts.

        1.  Shared branching. That info is in commercials all over the radio that you can go to any credit union that participates in shared branching (this one does), and deposit or take money out of your account, even if your credit union is in another state.

          1. Here’s something else, if he was a passenger, why did the woman drive off when he tried to get in the car, if she didn’t want him getting back in the car why didn’t she leave while he was in the bank?

Here’s another question, why is the BDN font so small????????

          2.  They got into a fight, and she needed to cool off so she didn’t give him a beat down :o) He obviously didn’t get the hint :o)

No answer on the font. You can adjust the font on your entire browser though

          3.  Why did they get into a fight?  One could hypothesize that Big Bertha got upset.that he came out of the bank empty handed .

I don’t usually do conjecture but this one just seemed to easy to pass up.

          4.  She found out he was cheating on her. While she was waiting for him to do his banking, the anger just built up to the point she was gonna blow. Rather than blow, she decided to leave. He didn’t get the hint.

See how easy it is to make stuff up when you don’t know the real answer?

          5.  You may be right that there is something sinister, but it really aggravates me when people immediately jump to that conclusion.

Remember the woman found shot (but still alive) and her boyfriend was shot and dead not too long ago? Almost everyone on this board said he should have skipped the murder (which he failed at), and jumped right to the suicide. As it turns out, SHE was the one who did it. People were so quick to judge, yet it wasn’t even him that was the bad guy.

That’s just one of many examples where the quick to announce what has happened, are wrong. Very rarely do people apologize for the incorrect judgements either. It’s sad really…

    1. He was a passenger before he went into the bank.  When he came out of the bank and tried to enter the passenger side of the car (again), he was in fact, a passenger. Free advice for Kermit. :-)

      1. Slides failed attempt to get into the car coincides with his failed attempt to become a passenger.  Can’t be any other way unless you change the meaning of the word.  (of course we like to do that in Maine)

  2. There is more to this story I am sure. But what it is none of us knows at this time. We can speculate till the cows come home, but we do not know why she dragged him and dropped him before taking off.
