Kevin Raye considers himself lucky to have attended Bates College after growing up in Washington County, which is consistently one of Maine’s poorest counties.

“I had seven brothers,” Raye says. “I was the seventh of eight boys. And, I think when you grow up in a big family like that, you learn the art of compromise. You don’t always get your way. I’d say that was a big influence in my life.”

    1. He may have learned the art of compromise growing up but he’s quickly forgotten it.He’ll just be another  member of the party of “No, nothing “, if he gets to Washington.Remember that compromise is a dirty 4 letter word for the r’s.They have a hard time even saying it.They certainly won’t be willing to actually do it!

      1.  No – because he has absolutely no chance of winning.  And he seems to be the only person who doesn’t realize that.

          1. He might have been able to give himself a chance if when he first entered politics he decided to stick to the truth. He has not done that. He may well be a nice enough guy in a social situation, but professionally he is the blackest of liars.

  1. When I was deployed to the middle east, Kevin Raye came and mowed my lawn for my wife. He had little help and worked hard on a hot day to get it done. It wasn’t a quick appearance for a photo op, it was a day’s work. The trash talk I hear in the comments isn’t the Kevin I’ve met.

      1. Is it necessary to question one’s military service? That
subject should not be something that has to subject to debate when someone
offers a positive opinion. Identity theft is a serious crime in the USA as well
but hopefully no one finds a need to question each responder with that. I
notice most of the positive comments here speak of the man and most negative
comments speak to the party or the Governor. This is the second video I have
seen featuring Senator Raye and he has managed to stay with a positive message
        in both.

        1.  Well the post sounded fake. You must know Stolen honor is a serious problem in the US. It is important to call it when we see it. Maybe a little more info would help.

          1. Why don’t you reveal your name and backstory. My guess is the you are not really a British Lord or descended from any nobility…stolen titles of nobility is a serious problem in this country you know.

      2. Actually, if I remember it correctly, stolen honor as a serious crime was shot down by the Supreme Court. It is only a crime if the person perpetrating the fraud is doing it to obtain personal gain.

As far as questioning a vet, I can understand it. There are many false veterans out there. I am not claiming anything outlandish, such as being a special forces hero or anything like that. I am an Army and Army National Guard vet, with 7 years of active duty and 20 more as an ARNG Soldier. I’ve done my duty honorably, and retired with 26 years of service.

The post wasn’t false, nor was it any type of political ad. I have seen many people trashing Mr. Raye and felt that I should tell my view of him. Instead of sarcastic comments about stolen honor, maybe just a respectful question would have sufficed?

        1. Lord has no right to question your story…I served in the Navy myself… I bet he didnt serve his Country…

  2. This man will be sitting in the big chair after Mr. LePage gets done cleaning up the mess that Baldy created. Better get use to it folks,…

        1. Not likely. LePage will not be re-elected. If a republican succeeds the next governor after one term, it won’t be Raye. He has too little familiarity with the truth, and too close an association with the current republican trend towards voter suppression.

    1. Kevin’syoungest brother would be Billy. He didn’t name him in
the video but there was a picture of him in it with Kevin.  I just wanted to be sure to point out that
again everything that he said was factual and positive.

        1. That’s pretty interesting as this is the second of two videos that have been factually spot on.  I have not seen any of his campaign spots so I have no idea where your point of reference is.  I can however speak to the two BDN videos and would be interested in which points that could have been deemed not truthful.

          1. I am referring to his testimony before the legislature last year, though I can’t remember offhand the number of the LD. Specifically, the anti-LURC legislation.

        1. Some of us 50+ years have 20/20 vision.  His video was straight forward.  It’s hard to go wrong when you discuss where you come from and it’s very easy to check facts on someone’s past.  Inuendo doesn’t carry much weight especially when it is not based on fact.

  3. I cant believe I watched the whole clip, painful! wow, you put milk in a cooler

Just what we need another IVY Leaguer.  stick with mustard.

    1.

Having the opportunity to go to a college like Colby, Bates,
or Bowdoin in Maine is not about being from a family of privilege. There is a
great deal of pride associated with attending a reputable school. Work study programs
are designed to assist with the payment of tuition and are not future job
training. This is another testament to the fact that Kevin comes from a common
man’s background. I grew up with Kevin and his family like mine was large. We
didn’t have a lot but we were provided for. I went on to retire from the US
Army after 23 years and managed to graduate from college shortly after
retirement to boot. It is refreshing to know that someone has a respect for
      education.

  4. Proven capability-
    Proven small business history-
    Proven help to Northern Maine-
Michaud has done none of these things, but Kevin Raye has…!

Kevin Raye knows how to create paychecks, Michaud only knows how to cash them
