AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is taking his anti-domestic violence message to a central Maine high school.
LePage travels to Erskine Academy in South China on Wednesday as part of his effort to raise awareness about the issue and help to bring an end to domestic violence and bullying.
The governor believes domestic violence is a men’s as well as women’s issue.
During his presentation at Erskine, LePage will distribute informational booklets that include a personal letter from the governor, resources to assist victims of domestic violence and a wristlet promoting domestic violence awareness.

Good man, Mr. Lepage cares about his people.
About five years ago now,the Morning Sentinel had a story of a Maine State trooper retiring. The retiring trooper said the most challenging calls were for domestic violence/issues. He noted, over 90% of the time ALCOHOL was involved.
Someday, hopefully, there will be some Maine Official or Maine Leader that has a moment of being a Profile in Courage, and will tell the truth, the primary cause of domestic abuse is not money, not individuals, but ALCOHOL.
Alcohol is a big money maker in the state, the sales of alcohol of bring in alot of tax money, but the primary cause of domestic abuse is: alcohol. Your wasting time speaking on anti-domestic violence if you avoid talking about what alcohol is doing to domestic relationships.
I have worked with families were domestic violence was an issue. In my experience, alcohol and other drugs were part of the picture. In other families, there was no alcohol or drug abuse, but many power and control issues. Alcohol makes a convenient excuse for a batterer’s behavior, but they are no less accountable for their actions. As I see it, if someone knows that every time he or she drinks, there is loss of control and violence, and they choose to do it anyway, the drinking is done in part to give them a rationalization for the violence.
This is an important issue to get behind. It is one of the very few things I can agree with Governor LePage on.
get off the dole and the couch and find one!
I’m not on the dole and I have a job.
Next!
A pathetic comment that clearly shows why there is a slow steady decline in our society…..
… and in the leader of our great state.
Funny how Gov. LeRage of all people is leading the charge against domestic violence. I’m glad he is, of course, because this really is a serious problem, but I distinctly remember an enraged LePage muttering on a television show how much he’d like to punch Maine Public Radio’s A. J. Higgins in the nose. He didn’t like it that one of Maine’s rare real journalists had doggedly pursued him when he turned evasive about who actually owned his house in Maine. This hulking bully must outweigh A. J. by a good 100 pounds. I have to wonder if Mrs. LePage has ever felt similarly threatened when she frustrated her husband in having his way.
If Mrs Paul Lepage is a battered woman that would explain why she moved to Florida years ago letting him live in her house in Waterville, Maine.
I also remember when Lepage charged at a female reporter name Rebecca. Lucky the camera man who was with the reporter stepped between them and the Lepage backed off like the dufus coward he is.
Is this what Lepage meant when he knowing hired a pedophile enabler to run our children’s schools?
So I’m guessing that LePage was slated for this talk because he’s had more experience with domestic violence incidents in Maine than have police officers? I know several children who attended Erskine. My guess is the reaction of these kids to this visitation of a governor instead of a police officer would have been what the f***!
Let’s hope those kids are smarter and have more respect than you give them credit for. Erskine most likely will be proud of your filthy comment!
