Chellie Pingree has served two terms in the U.S. House, and served eight years in the Maine State Senate in the ’90s. But before that, she was the tax assessor and school board chair in the small town of North Haven, an experience she says still guides her. She’s called the island of less than 400 year-round residents home for 40 years.

Please go back and read the Q & A above, which shows what she has to say on a number of subjects. She has plenty to say. I wish people would discuss her actual positions, instead of Loony Toons cartoon name calling.

Why don’t people have the same feelings towards limousine conservatives? There certainly is no shortage of them… I guess the alliterative allure is too great to resist. Just goes to show the bumper sticker mentality of commenters here, and elsewhere.
No mention of the fact that her new squeeze, husband Donald Sussman has full control of Maine Today Media which publishes The Portland Press Hearald, Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel, Maine Sunday Telegram, and the Coastal Journal.
Used to be laws against this kind of power.

Seriously, only when she got caught utilizing private jets (after repeatedly denying their use and lobbying against them in Congress and villifying those biz executives who used them) did she even begin to remotely fess up the fact that she is perhaps not like the little people.
The entire incident spoke directly to Ms. Pingree’s character, or rather, lack thereof. She prefers to redistribute wealth (except her own) and tax the bejeejus out of the working folk. Perhaps someday she will be consigned by intelligent voters to the great political dustbin of history.

The State of Maine has sent liberals to washington for years, yet only 2 have done anything. thats Snowe and Collins. Mike and Shelly are pretty much navies for the DNC. Yes men. I thought that Maine congressmen/women and senators were supposed to represent Maine… Instead they become yes men/women for the party..
Time for the Patriot act to end along with “HOMELAND SECURITY” and all the laws that allow spying on US citizens
People should read the Q & A with Pingree via the link that is provided above. Then, they can maybe comment on the candidate’s positions. I think it’s a shame that all people seem to be commenting on are the fables that they read in other people’s comments, and other age-old myths and fairy tales about what it means to be a liberal.
Just read the questions and read her answers, and you may be surprised to find that you agree with many, if not all of them.
