ROCKLAND, Maine — A 25-year-old Rockland woman could spend up to six months in jail after admitting to kicking a Rockland police officer in the face after he arrested her for driving drunk with a child in the vehicle.
Justice Jeffrey Hjelm accepted a deferred disposition Tuesday morning worked out between the district attorney’s office and Vanessa Frisbie’s defense attorney.
Frisbie pleaded guilty Tuesday in Knox County Superior Court to assault on an officer, assault, endangering the welfare of a child, operating under the influence, domestic violence assault, and violating a condition of bail. As part of the deferred disposition, if Frisbie does not commit any additional crimes for a year, the assault on an officer charge, which is a felony, will be reduced to a misdemeanor assault. She will then be sentenced to 365 days in jail with at least six months suspended. The defense will be able to argue for less jail time. She also will be placed on probation for a year.
The offenses occurred Dec. 27, 2011, when she burst into the home of a woman and threw a pogo stick at the woman. She missed the woman but it struck the woman’s son, according to Assistant District Attorney Jeff Baroody. Frisbie then drove away from the scene and was located later that day parked at Snow Marine Park by Rockland police. Police determined she was intoxicated and arrested her, at which time she started kicking and struck Officer Lloyd Daniels in the face, injuring him and breaking his eyeglasses.
In June, while out on bail, she was charged with assaulting the father of her children and violating her bail conditions. She has been held at the Knox County Jail since then.
She was to be released Tuesday after the hearing.
Justice Hjelm told Frisbie that if she follows the terms of the deferred disposition, she can get a very generous outcome a year from now at sentencing.
“They’re going out on a limb for you,” he said.
Defense attorney Eric “Rick” Morse said that Frisbie has completed a rehabilitation program and plans to continue rehabilitation during the year she is awaiting sentencing.
While out on bail she commits another assault and they are giving her the benefit of a deferred disposition????!!! She should be in jail now and stay there until she learns to control her anger.
I wonder if Officer Daniels agreed to this, or was even consulted for that matter.

If this was a man, he would have been tazered and/or shot by the officer and the book would be thrown at him. But since this is a violent female who is a domestic abuser the entire legal system stands on its head to be nice to the poor little dear.
Apparently, domestic violence against men, even male police officers, is no big deal when it’s committed by abusive and violent women. The same court system has no problem shredding men’s lives by depriving them of their freedom, money, and children.
Shame on the prosecutor and judge Hjelm. The hatred and bias against men and boys is sickening.
