PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — U.S. Sen. Susan Collins presented the first potatoes harvested from The Aroostook Medical Center’s Centennial Potato Plot in Presque Isle to the White House on Tuesday.
Collins, a native of Caribou, presented the potatoes to Ed Pagano, deputy assistant to the president, outside the East Wing at the White House on Tuesday morning.
Officials from TAMC and project partners Cavendish Produce and Northeast Packing Company originally presented the 5-pound bag of potatoes to Sen. Collins when she visited TAMC last week.
The TAMC Centennial Plot is a two-acre section of potato field on Route 1 that is owned by Cavendish Produce. The project was launched in June as part of TAMC’s 100th anniversary celebration to serve as a tribute to Aroostook’s agricultural heritage and its ties to the efforts to open Presque Isle’s first public hospital.

Hey, since TAMC is in the potato business they must sell them for $250.00 a 5 lbs. bag? The size Sen. has in her hands? Are we going to receive free potatoes when Obamacare kicks in?
President Kardashian must of been out of town campaigning that day.
Free Potatoes and Cell Phones for everyone!
Michelle to Barack on moving day: “Where did these potatoes come from?”
BO: “The bag says Aroostook County. Where the hell is that? Just leave ’em for The Romneys.”
Here is a what i consider a classic waste of taxpayer money. Senator Collins delivering potatoes to the white house. She and all her other cronnies should be in Washington DC taking care of the peoples business. The Obama’s don’t even like potatoes. We are all suffering a lack of leadership and this is news. The caption should have read: Instead of legislating as she and the rest of them should be she is out picking potatoes and delivering them to the white house. This America is what your politicians are doing for you. :(
