GLENBURN – June Ouellette, our beautiful, dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt left this earth Oct. 1, 2012. Her family was at her side as she reached “the end of the trail,” as she put it. Even at the end, she was teaching us how to face death with courage, faith, grace, dignity, the enjoyment of simple pleasures and humor. She even told us, “Bet you’d like to get this show on the road.” She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Eastport, daughter of Edward and Blanche (Brown) Conley.
June graduated from Shead Memorial High School, class of 1944. She moved to Portland and attended and graduated from Golden School of Beauty Culture. She worked in shops, then opened June’s Beauty Shop, Gorham. She enjoyed traveling, her time in Florida and on Ironbound Pond with Bib, family and friends. June also enjoyed decorating her home, gardening and reading. Many of us were blessed with gifts of her art work, a skill she developed late in life.
She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Emile “Bib” Ouellette; two daughters, Suzanne (Ouellette) Chabot and husband, Roland, and Dorothy (Ouellette) Matson and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Jeffrey Chabot and wife, Lisa, Gregory Chabot and wife, Anne, Rosanne Rini and husband, Michael, Daniel Matson and wife, Nicole, and Andrew Matson and wife, Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Sean Ryan and Joseph Chabot, Benjamin Gardner and Emma June Chabot, Anthony, Nicho-las, Elizabeth June and Abigail Rini, and Reid and Dayna Matson; brother, Leo Conley; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of her life 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Pine Grove Remembrance Center, 1347 Outer Hammond St., Bangor, with her daughter, the Rev. Dorothy Matson officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Stroudwater Street, Westbrook. Gifts in her memory may be sent to The American Lung Association of Maine, P.O. Box 2109, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04338-2109 or St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Respiratory Fund, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638.
