BANGOR, Maine — A Brewer man made his first appearance before a judge Tuesday on two counts of robbery and one count of theft in connection with a robbery at the Brewer Rite Aid and a pharmacy at a Hannaford Bros. supermarket in Bangor on Sept 29.

John C. Campbell, 35, was arrested Sunday when he stepped off a bus at Dysart’s Restaurant in Hermon.

Superior Court Justice Ann Murray set bail for Campbell at $3,000 cash or $30,000 surety.

Campbell did not enter pleas.

He told police Sunday he stole the drugs to feed his opiate addiction. He said he was unemployed and didn’t have access to health care, according to a previously published report.

Campbell fled Brewer soon after the robberies by boarding a Greyhound bus to New York, Brewer police Capt. Chris Martin said Sunday. Brewer police Detective Fred Luce learned Sunday that Campbell had purchased a ticket to travel back to Bangor on the bus.

  1. Good Luck, Charlie.  Hope this experience opens your eyes and gives you the desire to get clean and do right by your kids.  You’re a good guy with a problem.  But not so much of a problem you cant beat.

  2. $3000 bail? Thats it? Last I checked, robbery was a very serious charge. And on another note, if the police are looking for you, dont buy bus tickets.

    1. You must be new to Maine.  A Norridewock convicted child sex offender  was out on $100 bail in 2005 for a new sex offense of a child, when he was arrested in a Walmart trying to kidnap a child.  $3000 is a surprisingly high bail! relatively speaking.

  3. Hopefully he gets at least  10 years. This will give him time to take advantage of a drug rehab program while locked up as he should be.
