GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Anne lost her fight with ALS Sept. 26, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Junction, Colo.
She was predeceased by her brothers, David Laurent, Robert Brown, Byron Brown and William Brown; sister, Patricia Coates; and son, Eric Brown. She is survived by her sisters, Marlou Morrison and husband, David, Rae Perrault and husband, Roger; her husband of 51 years, Myles, who was her loving and dedicated companion and caregiver; son, Paul Brown and wife, Cathy; daughters, Tracy Osborne and husband, Kevin, and Stephanie Brown and domestic partner, Michael Walsh; grandchildren, Toby Osborne and wife, Cheryl, Nicole Osborne and husband, Matthew, Travis Brown and wife, Courtney, and Ryan Brown and wife, Kristi; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Eric and Isabel.
After attending Livermore Falls High School, Anne received a degree as a registered nurse from Maine Medical Center School of Nursing, Portland. Her first employment was at New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston. While living in New Mexico, she functioned as a tour guide at the state capital in Santa Fe and also worked for the the New Mexico State Legislative Counsel. Anne enjoyed adventure travel. She traveled to Costa Rica, Alaska and the Peruvian Amazon, where she bested her husband by hitting the target with a blow gun and catching the biggest piranha. She explored many back country trails in the west. On one trip she broke her ankle and had to be air lifted out, but she showed her mettle by completing the trip several years later. She loved to play bridge and spoke of her fellow players fondly.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life 1 p.m. Oct. 27 at Wiles Funeral Home, Jay.
Tough her smile we cannot see, her hand we cannot touch. Her memory is a keepsake with which we’ll never part.
