FARMINGTON, Maine — Two teenagers face charges after police investigated multiple incidents of graffiti found Friday morning in downtown Farmington.

Farmington police issued a summons Friday to two 17-year-old boys on a charge of criminal mischief for the spray-painted images on buildings behind Mainestone Jewelry, The Sensi Side and other Broadway businesses amounting to an estimated $750 in damage.

Ron Gelinas reported there was graffiti in the alley behind his store, Mainestone Jewelry, about 9 a.m. Friday morning. The graffiti was not there when a foo -patrol officer made his rounds through downtown about 10 p.m. Thursday, said Rachel Heseltine, Police Department secretary.

Police looked for suspects among a large group of people who hang out near The Sensi Side after school.

The police officer on duty that night spotted the name of one suspect who had been seen downtown about 3 a.m. Friday, she said.

That juvenile and another questioned reportedly admitted to the graffiti painting. Police believe there may be more involved but are charging only the two boys at this time.

Farmington Officer Ted Neil is checking to see if previous incidents of graffiti downtown are similar and have any connection with this incident.

Officer Bill Tanner and Sgt. Michael Adcock worked with Neil to investigate and charged the two juveniles, Police Chief Jack Peck said.

Farmington Downtown Association keeps a supply of graffiti remover available for downtown businesses.

  1. Glad they town keeps ” Graffitti Remover” on hand for the people
    victimized by these hooligans.
How bout keeping  “criminal remover” on hand as well.
Like maybe a stack of bus tickets and Burger King coupons
to be handed to these misfits , and send them on their way.
I hear Brockton , Mass. is nice this time of year.

    1. Brockton hasn’t had a nice season since all the shoe factories closed tears ago, but go ahead and send ’em down! Since their citizens are moving up to Bangor, there’s room for these brats. Problem is, Brockton will chew ’em up and spit ’em out in no time. They’re not ready for prime time!
On second thought, keep your homegrown miscreants to yourselves.     :)

    2. After doing some comparisons with some FBI stats i could find: Bangor versus Brockton, per capita, the  larceny theft rates of Bangor was higher than Brockton. Bangor’s murder rate is only 2% lower than Brockton and it appears there are more sex offenders in Bangor than Brockton.  Bangor best increase their police force or do something

    1. Actually, i have been there a couple of times and i was impressed. Of course dying a slow death with China-Mart and other national retailers moving in

  2. If the kids would have talked to the Bangor city council they might have gotton approval to spray paint private property walls. In Bangor it is a $20 fine. LOL.

Actually, it’s a mess and totally wrong.  Certainly these pictures will show it’s more than $ 750 damage !

  4. I know of several highway and railroad overpasses where these individuals could use their “talents” and enthusiasm for painting….

    1. I like that Idea..  Take it one step further… If they do a good job pay them minimum wage with which they can reemburse the property owners where walls were defaced.
