PORTLAND, Maine — Local police are searching for a hooded, masked man they say robbed a Washington Avenue convenience store Monday night.

According to a police announcement Tuesday afternoon, a lone male entered the 7 Eleven store at 27 Washington Ave. about 7:45 p.m. Monday, demanded cash from the clerk and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in the direction of the Kennedy Park neighborhood.

No customers were injured and no weapon was displayed, police stated Tuesday.

“Witnesses believe the perpetrator was a white male with a thin build,” reads a police announcement, in part. “He was wearing a mask and a black hooded sweat shirt with the hood up. He had on blue jeans and brown shoes. The sweatshirt had a distinctive small white triangle printed on the back, just below the hood.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or crime to call the Portland Police Department at 874-8584, go to the force website, or anonymous text the keyword “GOTCHA” and their message to 274637.

  1. Just hand the drugs out at the door, this would stop all this crap!! Then nobody would be in danger, happens all the time at the meth clinics…..just saying. Make sure they have a ride to get there and back too. We wouldn’t want one of them getting run over walking home. The may be hungry too…. throw in snacks and stuff too.

  2. That HAND!  Why anybody would recognize that hand, belongs to a skinny white kid!  Best of luck if that’s all there is to go on…
