BANGOR, Maine — A Dedham woman and her 22-year-old daughter were stopped and detained by Maine State Police Thursday afternoon, and later arrested and charged in connection with a home burglary occurring earlier in the day.
“I noticed the vehicle they were driving matched the description of a suspect vehicle seen leaving the home of a burglary, so I pulled them over and detained them until deputies from Hancock County Sheriff’s Department arrived,” said Trooper Darren Vittum, who made the traffic stop on I-395 at 12:25 p.m.
Lorrie Gray, 52, and daughter Lindsey Ames — both of Dedham — were questioned before being arrested. Gray was charged with burglary and Ames was charged with burglary and violation of bail conditions.
Ames was free on bail after allegedly breaking into another home in Dedham. Both also were issued summonses involving a third Dedham home burglary.
Both women were then transported to Hancock County Jail without incident and were still there as of 10 p.m. Thursday. Ames is being held on $2,000 bail and Gray is being held on $1,000 bail. They are expected to appear in Hancock County District Court in Ellsworth Friday afternoon.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department deputies also assisted with the investigation.

Interesting how they were able to make bail but need to steal. Burglary and bail violation of same offense. Mom is 52. Geez……………
Well, they probably used the cash they got from a previous burglary to bail themselves out.
It doesn’t say anywhere that they made bail, only how much it is. Ames was free on bail at the time of being arrested this time, from a previous burglary charge.
Held on Bail not released on bail……..Your right…… I’m wrong. Hope they enjoy their stay.
Wow, and I feel like a horrible mother when I accidentally drop an occasional F-bomb in front of my daughter. I really must stop being so hard on myself.
I wish that good parents like you could control all of what all your kids hear just by your own actions. Sit a kid down in front of “Two Broke Girls” or “Two and Half Men.” and hope for the best when they open their mouths. And it’s early in the evening. Years ago “All in the Family” shocked Americans. We have 20 shows on TV that go way past any F bomb. What’s really scary is that there are parents out there that don’t even know when they say something inappropriate in front of their kids. Keep up the good work!
Well, I certainly wouldn’t put you in the horrible mother category, but you obviously realize that as a parent, you set a bad example when you drop the F-bomb in front of your daughter, and yet in the next sentence, you think you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself when that happens. Those two sentences just don’t seem to go together.
I think her last sentence involved a little humor.
Lighten up Francis.
Gosh, and they say parents and kids don’t spend enough time together these days …
Well….I am glad they let her out on bail after the first time she did it….She would never have had enough time to get her mother involved. They will be out today and have to do it again to get bail money for the next time! We have such a kind and caring judicial system.
‘Maine, the way criminal life should be’
OUT ON BAIL from Maine’s courts for being arrested for breaking into a house, Lindsey Ames is arrested again for breaking into a house

I can’t believe that it was only the cars description that warranted pulling them overm since it looked like a common small sedan.. If so that trooper is good!
Too bad, they got busted…..
A couple of losers…
Here is an actual crime with victims and they get a slap on the wrist. Our legal system is backwards. Nice job Mom.
Gee, my kids are coming home for the weekend from Grad School tonight. After dinner, maybe we should go out and do an armed robbery afterwards? It would sure help me with tuition.
Tuition: Legal robbery !
You stay classy Lorrie Gray and daughter Lindsey Ames.
Gee Lorrie ,Do you have any other kids? If you did you could start a robbery gang.
Mother of the year right there. I guess the family that steals together, stays together. Probably not in jail because our justice system doesn’t see the need.
What’s really interesting is that there are at least another two
burglaries that happened right around that time… one in Holden I think
it was, and definitely one in Kenduskeag (friends of ours). Maybe even
two in Kenduskeag right around the same time, not sure about that. So I really hope that while
these asshats are in jail, the police are able to nail them for even
more burglaries AND maybe even get some of the stolen items back!
Fingers crossed.
And Hampden…and Hermon. So why are they free on bail instead of locked away???
