WATERVILLE, Maine — A Kennebunk man who was arrested on domestic violence assault charges by Waterville police in May found himself in trouble with central Maine law enforcement again Wednesday night.

Prince Benjamin, 27, was at a Gilman Street apartment that he wasn’t supposed to be at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.

Rumsey said Benjamin was visiting his girlfriend, which he wasn’t allowed to do due to bail conditions. The woman told police she wanted him removed from the apartment, and Benjamin made threats to kill her and harm her family, the deputy chief said.

While police were en route, they learned that Benjamin had two outstanding warrants for unpaid domestic violence assault fines — one out of Biddeford and one out of Augusta, according to Rumsey.

Benjamin was booked on the warrants, along with violating conditions of release and domestic violence criminal threatening, a Class C felony due to his prior charges, Rumsey said.

On May 31, Benjamin was arrested in the Elm City for allegedly choking the same girlfriend, according to Bangor Daily News archives.

Benjamin is being held without bail at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.

  1. How many times does he have to be arrested before he is sentenced and put in prison? Out on bail; come on, this ex girl friend will be killed.

    1. I feel this poor young man needs some psychiatric care in order to turn his life around. Hopefully he will be able to obtain the help he needs in order to be a productive member of society! I’m sure that he has a lot to offer society.

      1. In a perfect world — he would get some psychiatric help AND jail time for the crimes he has already committed.  I agree with you that he needs some help, and as long as he is willing and open to receive that help and try to better himself, then all the more power to him!  I wish him the best of luck moving forward, but he also needs to be held to accountable for his actions which got him to this point….

  2. ” Benjamin was visiting his girlfriend”
    seriously?
how in the world are these females foolish enough to be with him, even after all his offenses?

maybe it’s the “well he’s a good man at heart, he’s changing, he loves me!”
    unbelievable.

  3. He is hardly a Prince, no matter if that is his name. He does seem to have a sense of entitlement that goes with a name like that, though.

  4. He was probably bullied in school for having the name “Prince”.  Now he feels powerful beating on a girl.  I thought they were cracking down on domestic violence!!

  5. “Benjamin had two outstanding warrants for unpaid domestic violence assault fines” —
I wonder if the victim is compensated too. Is he at least required to pay any medical bills for injuries he might have inflicted?
” Benjamin was visiting his girlfriend, which he wasn’t allowed to do due to bail conditions.”
To those hoping he gets psychiatric help – he’s a sociopath – there is no cure. It’s how his personality developed. Since no contact is a condition of his release, even time in jail isn’t a threat and he will likely re-offend .
