BANGOR, Maine — A local man is was arrested for criminal mischief and criminal trespass on Wednesday evening, and police said he could also be facing burglary charges.

Jeff Hunter, 38, kicked in the door at his ex-girlfriend’s Court Street residence and told police he lived there, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday morning.

While Hunter had previously lived at the residence, Edwards said he doesn’t anymore, and the door had some damage from Hunter’s kicking it down.

Hunter didn’t steal anything from the apartment nor did he injure the woman, the sergeant said, but police took him to jail for criminal mischief and criminal trespass, both Class D misdemeanors.

The case has been sent to the district attorney’s office for review, and Edwards said it’s possible that Hunter could be charged with burglary.

Hunter was booked into the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Thursday.

  1. Yet another example of why Bangor needs to pass the proposed ordinance that holds landlords accountable for the way that they chose to manage their properties.

    1. Riiiiiiiight. The landlords are responsible for this guy kicking in a door? So your theory is make them nice, but not too nice like the inn in Camden that can rent for 1k per night because then that would be too nice. Pffftt. Your comments do actually make me laugh a little.

  2. another man child, where does it end to bad she did not have back up. brother friend ect to beat the &#$% out of this loser sic of these type.

  3. Dude, if you have to kick down the door, there’s your sign that you should not be there. Seriously, get a clue.

  4. If you do not take anything from a residence you can still get charged with burglary? Granted he kicked in the door but it states he did not take anything. Guess kicking doors are considered burglary. Weird!
