LINCOLN – Xavier Romero, 82, husband of Gloria (Morales) Romero, died Oct. 24, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Jimenez, Mexico, the son of Jose and Virginia (Portillo) Romero.
Xavier loved to travel and made friends with everyone he met. He loved living in Maine and visiting Bar Harbor and the ocean. He was a devout Catholic and loved his church, St. Mary of Lourdes, Lincoln. He was a history buff and loved Notre Dame football. Xavier worked in the pulp and paper industry his entire career and retired from Lincoln Pulp and Paper.
In addition to his wife, Gloria (Morales) Romero of Lincoln, he is survived by six children, Xavier Jr. and his wife, Cheri, of Woodstock, Ga., David Romero and his wife, Lisa, of Nashua, N.H., Gloria Titcomb and her husband, Jay, of Groton, Mass., Daniel Romero and his wife, Shelly, of Winchendon, Mass., Albert Romero and his wife, Andrea, of Merrimack, N.H., and Linda Black and her husband, Robert, of Lewisville, Texas; one brother, Ruben; five sisters, Maria Louisa, Leonora, Virginia, Sylvia and Irma; and 22 grandchildren, Xavier Thomas, Christine, Theresa, Timothy, Christopher, Andrew, Nicholas, Elaine, Megan, David, Allison, Michael, Philip, Anna, Daniel, Alexander, Nicole, Rachel, Jenna, Christopher, Matthew and Hannah.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lincoln.
