HARTLAND, Maine — Police say speed and alcohol may have been factors in a rollover crash along Route 43 on Saturday.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash on the Athens Road at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, said Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II in a statement on Sunday.
Keith Miller-Grant of Solon was traveling west along the Athens Road, which is also Route 43, in a white 1994 Lincoln Continental when the vehicle left the roadway, struck several trees and rolled onto its roof, said Gottardi.
“It appears that the motor vehicle was traveling too fast as it approached a curve in the road,” said Gottardi.
Miller-Grant, 30, was trapped inside the car for about an hour before being freed by the Hartland Fire Department, said Gottardi.
Miller-Grant was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield for treatment. Gottardi said he believed Miller-Grant suffered a broken leg.
Gottardi said speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, which is still under investigation. The car was totaled.
Somerset County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Richie Putnam investigated the crash. Sebasticook Valley Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
