HAMPDEN AND BRADFORD – Frank Peter Roy, 40, passed away Oct. 28, 2012, from glioblastoma multiform brain cancer. He was born Aug. 7, 1972, in Bangor, son of Francis Roy and Kaye L. Woodward.
Frank was a graduate of Old Town High School, class of 1991. He served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Battalion, Airborne Rangers. Frank loved his job at Verizon Business. He respected and enjoyed the time spent with his co-workers. Frank was a member of Hampden Rifle Club. He enjoyed a variety of sports, games and participating in Bangor Church Softball League. Frank was an avid collector, easy going, generous and polite. He had a great sense of humor, and was very friendly towards everyone. On Aug. 13, 2009, International Star Registry named a star after Frank, the “Iron Samourai Frank Roy,” part of the Drago System, RA 18 hrs 54 mins 43.69 secs; D 52 ° 35′ 29.54″.
Frank was predeceased by his father, Francis Roy; grandmother, Constance McNamara; and dog brother, Willy. He is survived by his mother, Kaye L. Woodward and stepfather, Loren Woodward; sister, Lynette and husband, Wally Fraser, and their children, Peyton and Riley; grandfather, George McNamara; aunts and uncles, Wendy Cornell, Ben Goodin and wife, Tami, Monique Hanson and husband, Joe, Peter Goodin and wife, Denise, Angela McNamara, and Chris Connolly; nephews, Peyton and Riley, who frequently visited, made him gifts and he enjoyed watching their boyish antics while reminiscing about his own childhood; cousins, Michael Boyington and Anthony Sapiel, who were his childhood playpals; cousins, Pete, Cortney, Jacob, Benjamin and Duska; and a special 3-year-old cousin, Emily, who made gifts to help him feel better. He will be sadly missed by a number of close friends, many that he has known since childhood. The family thanks Bangor Area Visiting Nurses for being so kind, thoughtful, and making the family feel special; Bradford Fire Department for all their help; Scott Demoranville for taking time out of his busy schedule to build a ramp for Frank; Lafayette Family Cancer Center for always being accommodating, kind and thoughtful, and all the doctors and nurses who participated with Frank’s treatment.
