FARMINGTON, Maine — A corrections officer was injured Friday after an inmate hit her in the face with his hand, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said.

The incident occurred about 9:15 a.m. at the jail. The corrections officer had marks on her neck and had blood on her ear, he said.

The inmate was sprayed with Mace by a corrections officer and put in a cell, Yeaton said. Yeaton and Detective David St. Laurent assisted the officer.

A report will be sent to the district attorney’s office to be reviewed.

The corrections officer drove herself to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to be checked out and returned to work, Yeaton said.

  1. Talk about dumb; he should have been sprayed with more than mace, hopefully it will add a couple of years to his time in the clink

  2. I never was a fan of women jail guards guarding
     male prisoners.
With so much rage and seething anger on the part of the
men jailed , it doesnt seem to make any sense to put one of
the objects of their frustrations in charge of keeping order.
Who dreamed up this flawed policy??

And dont start in with ” equality” or some such nonsense.
It is a jail. The inmates , for the most part, couldnt give
a rats rear end for equality.
Any doubt , just ask their victims about equality.

  3. being a correctional officer is not an easy profession, not only do you work nights, weekends, holidays you dont get much support from the ones in charge of the jail you happen to work in. The negative atmosphere  can be very difficult to deal with on a daily basis also the continuing slamming of the doors and  all the money you see wasted on liberal counselors and social workers that just want to give the inmates more and more to help them out. The system is broken.
