BANGOR, Maine — Two local police officers went to check on the welfare of a young child late Tuesday and ended up arresting a teenager who gave a fake name, apparently because he was wanted, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Wednesday.
Officers Kyle Pelkey and Joe Page “go into this apartment to do a welfare check on this infant. The infant is fine, but they found guys inside the house and basically one was very uncooperative,” the sergeant said.
Cody Cookson, 18, who is listed as a Bangor-area transient, had been drinking and gave police a false name during the 9 p.m. welfare check, Edwards said.
“They went round and round” for several minutes before Cookson provided his real name, the sergeant said.
Cookson was arrested and charged with failing to provide his correct name and date of birth, possession of alcohol by a minor through consumption, and on the outstanding warrant, Edwards said. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and released on Wednesday, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Gops arrest him for various additional charges
then turn him loose shortly thereafter.
Why bother.
if the police are going to put in their energy dealing with these misfits
at least help pick the guy up after he “stumbles and falls down the stairs” , a
time or two.
And, who was surposed to be watching the infant… And, as a “sidebar”, who was surposed to be watching Cookson?
