LIVERMORE FALLS, Maine — A 19-year-old driver was injured Tuesday afternoon when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer on Campground Road.
The 1993 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Samuel T. Flagg of Livermore Falls rolled over, hit a tree about six feet in the air and landed on its roof, Livermore Falls Lt. Thomas Gould said.
People in the area helped him get out of the car, Gould said. Flagg complained of neck pain and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance.
Gould was assisted at the scene by police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. and Livermore Falls firefighters.
The Alero was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene.

With deer on the move and roads wet and slippery , perhaps
we can all slow down just a little bit.
Best wishes to the youngster.
It is a human reaction to swerve out of the way of wildlife on the road. All too many times, swerving ends up with someone in the ditch with their car upside down. Fact is, it’s safer to hit the animal. It is hard to fight the instinct, however. I hope the boy recovers.
Deer are all around in that area, and you have to make sure to maintain a reasonable speed and keep your eyes on the road at all times. Otherwise, it can get downright dangerous.
OR……maybe a phantom deer & texting.
Just hit the deer for crying out loud….better than rolloing over into a ditch, and you might actually get some meat for the freezer out of it
