BANGOR, Maine — The second man police say had a hand in a grisly, drug-related triple homicide this summer was returned to Bangor on Thursday evening in advance of a scheduled court appearance Monday.
Nicholas J. Sexton, 31, of Warwick, R.I., is one of two men charged with killing three local people and setting them ablaze inside a rental car this past August. He was arrested at gunpoint on Oct. 4 in Brockton, Mass., and initially attempted to fight extradition but waived his rights in Brockton District Court on Wednesday.
Bangor police Detectives David Bushey and Joel Nadeau left for the Bay State on Thursday morning and arrived back with Sexton at the Penobscot County Jail at about 5:25 p.m. Sexton, handcuffed and wearing a white T-shirt, long black jean shorts and sandals, got out of the back of the unmarked police car and walked up a short set of stairs without saying a word.
Sexton will be kept separate from Randall “Ricky” Daluz, 34, of Brockton, who was arrested Oct. 2 in New Bedford, Mass., and returned to Maine the following day, said Penobscot County Sheriff Glenn Ross.
Sexton and Daluz, who is also nicknamed “Money,” are charged with three counts each of knowing or intentional murder and one count of arson in the slayings of Daniel T. Borders, 26, of Hermon; Nicolle A. Lugdon, 24, of Eddington; and Lucas A. Tuscano, 28, of Bradford.
Penobscot County Jail officials are working out the details about how to handle having both triple murder suspects for both the short term and long term, Ross said.
“Those matters are being discussed,” the sheriff said. “They will be kept separately. They will not be in contact with each other, and there [are] also opportunities for different jails throughout the state” to take custody of one of them while they are awaiting trial.
Daluz, who denied his role in the killings when he pleaded not guilty to the four charges against him at the Penobscot Judicial Center on Oct. 4, is being held in protective custody at the jail, under maximum security, Ross said. Sexton also will be held in maximum security, he said.
When arrested, Daluz told Massachusetts police that he didn’t kill anyone and blamed Sexton for pulling the trigger on Borders, Lugdon and Tuscano.
The three victims died of gunshot wounds, police have said, and their charred bodies were found by firefighters on Aug. 13 inside a white Pontiac sedan, rented by Sexton, that had been set ablaze in the back parking lot of a Automatic Distributors at 22 Target Industrial Circle.
A person was recorded by Automatic Distributors video surveillance cameras walking away from the burning car, and Jeffrey Silverstein, the court-appointed defense attorney for Daluz, said Thursday that he believes the person pictured is not his client.
“There was only one person seen walking away from the car in the video and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my guy,” Silverstein said. He added that he has not seen the video evidence for himself and is basing his opinion on interviews with his client.
Sexton and Daluz were secretly indicted by the Penobscot County grand jury on Sept. 26, after which fugitive from justice warrants were issued for their arrests. Both have prior convictions for stabbing people in the Bangor area and for drug crimes, according to Bangor Daily News archives.
Sexton is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Monday at the Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor, Brenda Kielty, a special assistant in the attorney general’s office, said Thursday.
The attorney general’s office took over the case shortly after the three deaths were ruled homicides.
“The state has joined the cases together in hopes of trying them together,” Kielty said of Sexton and Daluz. “The defense can attempt to sever that.”

Guess you can run but not hide very well. Welcome to Maine as it will hopefully be your home for the rest of your life if found guilty. Nobody deserves to be killed over drugs and money. The three victims were not upstanding citizens either but still did not deserve to be executed by thugs who apparently have no conscience based on their past convictions of stabbing others and doing time. At least they have both been incarcerated in Maine before so welcome home boys get comfy cause you will be here awhile.
How sad all around that these young people kill their peers & not a thing gained in the end.
Five young lives gone & for what!
Lucas Tuscano may have been with Borders and Lugdon that night, but he does not deserve to be continually dragged through the mud. He didn’t know anyone but Lugdon at that party. His family are good people and he was a good person. He made a tragic mistake that night that his family pays for daily.
it costs tens of thousands to house an inmate for a year. maybe we could save some money if we outsourced some of our most violent criminals , like these two, to prisons in a nice foreign country, say maybe Saudi Arabia or Zimbabwe
We have found another great use for Club Gitmo..
These guys should have still been in prison for the stabbings! Seems like they figured out Maine’s the place to be when committing crimes.
Absolutely nothing funny about this. But is it just me or does that guy, Sexton, kinda look like Ben Affleck?
In about 6 months he will be looking much more Pretty….
Jail is too good for these men. Absolutely despicable human beings. Animals.
These men need help and are simply drug addicted and are committing these crimes due to the lack of jobs. These crimes would not have happened if Obama had created the millions of jobs he promised…..
Holy cow!! I’ve heard it all. “nuff said!
These two are “drug addicted and are committing these crimes due to the lack of jobs”? Are you freakin’ kidding me?! Shoot three people point blank and then BURN the bodies? What kind of profit could there possibly be in that? They didn’t just kill them. They DESECRATED their bodies! That is a heinous crime. I hope these two useless no-good pieces of crap rot in prison for every single day for the rest of their miserable lives and get tortured by someone in the joint so they can think about how they took away the lives of three human beings. The despite I feel for the ones responsible for this goes deeper than words can say. People like this don’t deserve to live in society with the rest of us. They lost that right when they decided to take away lives. And yes, one of the victims was my nephew and I know personally that he didn’t deserve to be murdered!
So sorry for the loss of your nephew Tami. Your right no one deserved what happened to those three victims of a horrific crime. So sad that little children won’t have their dads around and Lucas’ baby will never have been held in his arms. Senseless over drugs or money that only one of them owed and two innocent people just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I think you are exactly right. One of them owed and the other two paid dearly for it. I didn’t know Lucas but I have met a couple of people that do, in light of this tragedy. One of whom was his best friend and he said he was one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. His whole family is totally devastated, especially the mother of his baby. The sad thing is that he died simply because he was there, for absolutely no reason. That tells you how sick and heartless these animals are. My nephew was also one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet. He’d give you the shirt off his back. It sucks that someone would put anyone else’s life in jeopardy because of a stupid decision one person made. But none of them deserved to die over money. I just want to scream at these two guys, “Why?!! Why was money so important that you wanted to end three lives?!” But they will get the justice that is coming to them. I hope if there are more people involved, these two will start spilling information so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Tami, I viewed the pics of FB, and if your talking about Dan; I had heart for him. He looked sad, and I believe he was trying to find himself. The bragging pics, in my opinion, was of him trying to live up to a image, that he really wasn”t, because when you seen the pics of him with his loved ones, they were of a different Dan. I am so sorry for your loss! I don”t know him personally, but do not think he was a bad fellow, just got caught up in a very bad situation, and he lost his way. God Bless all the families. Justice will be served!!!!! count on it!!!
It is too bad that your nephew was murdered as I read that he had a child. I am so so sorry for you and his whole family. It is unfortunate like I said before that 1 person owed money and two innocent people were killed over it. Life is not always fair and I understand your wanting to scream and I am sure you and your would love to take these two POS out in woods and make them suffer a painful slow death. This would make even the most nicest person want to kill as they did but we are civilized so that would just ruin more lives. But that could never bring your nephew or the other two back. Maybe when they incarcerated that a local will make them suffer if they know or have knowledge of any of the three locals that were brutally murdered. Let us hope that based on their past convictions and if found guilty of these murders they will never walk free again. If by some reason they are ever free I hope they walk looking over their shoulder and wondering who is going to put a bullet in them. I also believe if they try to get a deal of the bigger fish up the drug chain that someone bigger than them also may want their lives for spilling everything they know. Criminals need to be locked up and I do believe we need a three strike law as in California so they never roam the streets again. I am sure you will get peace when these two are tried and convicted because I see no way they will be found not guilty as LE has found all evidence needed to put these two away. I also do not believe that Daluz was not involved because he obviously picked up Sexton from the scene so therefore knew about this beforehand and could have notified LE instead of getting him back to Massachusetts. Then I might believe he was forced into this situation as he has said “I would be dead too if Nick didn’t run out of bullets.” His previous conviction of stabbing someone says he had no regard for another’s death so why cry when you are caught. He is just looking to get out of jail in the future and trying to strike a deal. There should be no deals for either of these two for they belong locked up and never able to hurt or kill again. Best wishes to you and your family and I am truly sorry for the pain these 2 POS’s have caused you and your family and the families of the other two young souls.
Are U effin kidding me it has nothing to do with lack of jobs these 2 dirtbags arnt even from maine. They are gonna get all the help they need in the state prison being someones b*tch “LOL”
Thats funny…..
Sorry Green, but these two men committed the worst crime in the worst way. An eye for an eye is my opinion.
Give me a break..no matter how many jobs there are there will always be drug dealers and those in the underground…President Obama had NOTHING to do with this horrific travesty… so stop throwing the blame to others.. it is what it is.. and it was committed by these 2 heinous monsters. As the saying goes…If you do the crime ..you need to PAY the time!!
why would even bother to respond to such an idiotic comment? sounds like the help needs to touch this person……
Betcha you’re blaming President Obama for Sandy, too. Ludicrous.
I don’t think lack of jobs has anything to do with this. I think people make choices and some people decide they don’t want to make an honest living and choose a different path. If you seriously want a job you can find one or two whatever it takes to get by. Please don’t blame the President. The government is not responsible for creating jobs period!!
What a creepy-looking duo! Too bad they were not shot by accident while being apprehended.
maine state prison for you ladies were “money” will find his honey & “ricky” will meat dicky
I wonder if Rickey is a little nervous about running into Sexton after he sung like a canary(LOL)
Burn them.
could we PLEASE take down the same story that’s been up for 3-4 days?
Jeffery Silverstein can put a positive spin on his client’s involvement in this horrific crime…but if his client is so innocent of wrongdoing, why did he run?
Just speculating, but if Sexton did murder and burn three associates, and Rick was a fourth associate? Maybe Nick was planning to “disolve” the partnership?
Play with Fire, and oh, my, it is possible to get burned.
I am wondering what kind of sweetheart deal the D.A. offered Daluz for his “information” When you are Ricky’s size you do not need to be in P.C. unless you are a rat.
My guess is less than five for Daluz and triple 20’s for Sexton.
