SACO, Maine — A man living in Saco who had an outstanding warrant out of Arizona was picked up by police on Thursday.

Michael Lawrence Sweeney, 42, had a warrant out of Scottsdale, Ariz., for identity theft charges, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.

Saco police went to Sweeney’s home on Thursday after they were notified by their counterparts in Arizona that Sweeney had the warrant, Holland said.

After questioning Sweeney, officers arrested him and brought him to York County Jail on the outstanding warrant and a charge of being a fugitive from justice, Holland said.

Sweeney remained at the jail Monday, and Holland said he will be held there while district attorney’s offices in Maine and Arizona work out extradition proceedings.

  1. Nowhere to run to, Sweeney, nowhere to hide…  Might outrun cops in person, but nobody ever outruns the computer.
