ORONO, Maine — NexxLinx, an Atlanta-based marketing services outsourcing provider with a call center in Orono, is looking to temporarily hire 400 Mainers in the next week.

Under a Federal Emergency Management Agency contract, the Orono facility is looking for full-time employees to take phone calls from people in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions affected by superstorm Sandy, according to a company press release. Callers will be applying for federal disaster assistance and looking for referrals to relief programs.

Hires will start immediately, and will be paid $11.69 an hour, plus an additional $3.71 per hour for health and welfare. Supervisors will earn between $18 and $20 per hour, depending on experience level.

“These jobs are full-time and temporary,” said Jeff Buckman, chief operating officer of NexxLinx. “That means that we’ll support this effort for two to 12 weeks, or however long FEMA needs us.”

To learn more about the available positions, job seekers can search the Maine Job Bank, visit the Bangor CareerCenter or visit NexxLinx’s website, www.nexxlinx.com. The company can also be reached at 866-6000.

“Here’s an opportunity to help people that are truly in need,” said Craig Mento, NexxLinx’s chief executive officer. “We anticipate that the good people of Maine will help support this effort.”

  1. Obama is creating jobs already! That guy wastes no time at turning this country around… Oh wait, he wasted the last four years.

  2. Nexxlinx should not be trusted with such a sensitive contract. They do not care about helping any of their clients, only their bottom dollar. I can’t even begin to imagine how many corners will be cut in an effort to milk FEMA for all they’re worth, and then keep that money from the representatives actually handling the call volume. Their name might have changed, but the game is still the same with them.

A job is a job, but this is probably the worst place you could ever work for.

    1. Even their long-time employees get the boot if they don’t tow in line, and by that, I mean deceive the companies they have contracts with.

  3. I wonder if they can find the people to fill those positions. I’d say a good 25% of the Bangor area workforce is “ineligible for rehire” at that God-forsaken place.

Its a shame FEMA chose that dump to do business.
