BANGOR, Maine — Few details are available about a fight Wednesday morning on Hammond Street involving three men — one naked and one shirtless — but police said all three were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center because of their drug use.

“Three people were brought to the hospital under some sort of drug,” Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said, describing the situation as an “overdose, bad trip or something.”

Police were called to the apparent group fight at about 6:30 a.m. in the area of 531 Hammond St., located at the junction of Hammond Street and Webster Avenue North, and Officers Paul Colley, Dennis Townsend, Steve Pelletier, Jason Stuart and others responded.

“One male, heavy-set with no clothing and dark hair and another man with no shirt on” were fighting with a third man, Edwards said, reading from the police report. “One was bleeding.”

The naked man “was still fighting and ran into a building” when officers arrived, the sergeant said.

Edwards said he did not know what type of drugs the three men had taken.

Users of the synthetic drug bath salts often are found naked or partially naked because the drug causes the body’s temperature to rise, police and medical officials have said.

The names of the men, their ages and where they are from were not released because none has been charged with a crime, Edwards said.

“No one was arrested,” he said. “Not yet.”

  1. Knowing what these “bath salts” do to people, I cant even begin to imagine why anyone would introduce it to thier body. What ever happened to booze and pot isn’t that enough to get a buzz?

  2.  “was still fighting and ran into a building”
Does that mean that he ran into a brick wall, or did he enter a residence?

    1. If BDN has to answer to the question, I’m sure they will put enough spin on the answer that will make you more confused than before……………………

  3. That must have been a sight to behold. Shout out to the Bangor police dept., whatever they are getting paid, it’s not nearly enough!

    1. Oh you are so right.  I couldn’t even begin to imagine how awful that would be to face peopl e high on bath salts.

  4. If anyone is a fan of the Trailer Park Boys, all I can think of is Randy. You gotta take your pants off cause you cant fight with tight pants on !

      1. I can not even begin to show the joy I feel in knowing there are this many fans of TPB…you just don’t often run into folks that have seen them. Mike Smith ( Bubbles ) just announced last week that they start filming a new movie this winter…can’t wait !

  5. I can almost imagine the conversation that must have taken place among the arresting officers.
“Hey!… What the….? He’s naked! Go put the cuffs on him.”
“Are you crazy? I’m not going near him. You go put the cuffs on him.”
“I’m not going near him. He ain’t got no clothes on.”
“Get over there, wrestle him to the ground and slap the cuffs on!”
    “Sorry sir, can’t do it.”

    1.  If this reply has some gay connotation, Usually those that are most HOMOPHOBIC are they closet gay ones, even cops……

  6. At least once a week, BDN prints at least one story that falls under the category of Bizarre. This is the one for this week.
