BANGOR, Maine — Consumers throughout the state will be enjoying Black Friday sales starting Friday, but with the holiday shopping comes traffic congestion.
Bangor police are advising people to remain under control in the expected long lines and traffic delays, according to Sgt. Paul Edwards.
Delays will be expected throughout the holiday shopping season, particularly around Stillwater Avenue in Bangor, and Edwards is advising motorists to play it safe.
Bangor police also will have extra traffic enforcement to monitor crime and traffic violations, the sergeant said.
Edwards is warning people not to call 911 if stuck in traffic, particularly in the area of the Bangor Mall.

It’s pretty pathetic that people call 911 because there stuck in traffic…. there’s websites called eBay&Amazon that have deals year round and in most instances offer free shipping
I will gladly pay a higher price for an item, solely to avoid the crowds of loonies that are attracted to black Friday.
I buy American made products for Christmas. You have to shop online these days to get American made products. The big box stores support the workers of the People’s Republic of China. Buying American and buying local are literally the only defense we have these days against the selling out of the American dream.
The silly season begins.
Small shops are so much more peaceful.
