SACO, Maine — Police are investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Main Street last week.

Michael White, 65, of Old Orchard Beach was attempting to cross the street from Traditions Restaurant back to his vehicle around 8 p.m. Wednesday when a Chevrolet Prizm driven by Cynthia Cyr, 29, of Biddeford hit him, Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland said.

After being transferred from Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, White died of his injuries Thursday at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Holland said.

The accident shut Main Street down for four hours Wednesday, he said.

No charges have been filed, Holland said, but the accident remains under investigation.
