AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine’s capital city has been hit with three pharmacy robberies in the last 10 days, and police said Thursday they have no suspects yet.
The CVS Pharmacy on Capital Street was held up on Wednesday for the second time in less than two weeks, according to Augusta Deputy Chief Jared Mills. There was a pharmacy robbery at Walmart on Monday.
“We do have leads in both cases,” Mills said. “It’s unknown at this point if they are connected, [but] we’re certainly looking into that.”
On Monday, a man walked into the pharmacy area at Walmart on Civic Center Drive, demanded prescription drugs and fled the scene, according to Mills. Maine State Police tracked him with a canine unit without success.
A similar incident occurred at CVS Pharmacy around 3 p.m. Wednesday, when a man demanded prescription drugs and fled the scene. A state police canine track was also unsuccessful in that case, according to Mills. Weapons were not displayed in either case, he added, and nobody was injured.
On Nov. 17, a man robbed the same CVS Pharmacy that was held up Wednesday, and got away with oxycodone pills, Mills said.
Wednesday’s robbery marked the 53rd pharmacy holdup in the state this year and the ninth in Augusta alone in 2012, Mills explained.
“It’s doubled from last year at this time and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be slowing down,” Mills said of the statewide total.
The man in the Walmart robbery is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 140-160 pounds, Mills said. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans, a light blue FBI cap and dark boots. He was clean shaven.
The CVS robber was described as being roughly 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slender build. He weighs 130-150 pounds and wore a brown jacket, tan pants, dark gloves, sunglasses and a black hooded sweatshirt with a mask, Mills said.
Mills said there were several witnesses to all three robberies, and he’s hoping the public can help police identify suspects.
Anyone with information on the robberies is urged to contact Augusta police at 626-2370.

If the APD were out patrolling looking for criminals instead of sitting at the rotary looking for speeders then they might have caught the criminals already.
If you were in swimming, you’d probably kick then too!
Yepper…I’m sure the robbers would see them sitting outside the pharmacy and say what the heck. I can hear the conversation now
Joey “Elbow Macoroni” Smith:” Hey Fudge Nutz, let’s rob that famasee.” (they not only write in phonics, they speak it, don’tcha know)
Eddie “Fudge Nutz” Stiskizzadoca, : “Sure…but wadda bout that Kop ova they’re! ” (They also don’t know the difference between there/there/they’re and they never use appropriate punctuation.)
Natasha “HairyUppaLip” Monteverdeskizaki: “I’ll jus go bat an I at hymm. Kep ’em bizzy” (There’s always some 90 lb bleached blonde bimbo {former newscaster according to the Eagles} with da nose , chin, eye lid, and belly piercings and ripped skin tight jeans who has the day off from her job at a retirement home or residential care (easy way to get pills there also) to take care of important things like renewing her phone card, stopping at DHHS for more benefits then dropping her 3 kids off at her Bangor Slots loving mother, a teen mother herself who never-the-less looks like Kieth Richards in drag.
Elbow Macaroni: “Lettuce douit. Ewe guts a pensill to rite a knote”
Fudgenutz “Know I donte. Maybee we kin steel one in the stoor.”
HairyuppaLip”ah…fudgittaboutit. Dats two muche werk. Letz go get neck tattwos.”
PS Personally I think the APD does a pretty good job considering the limited resources they have. Granted, pharmacy robberies should be more of a priority, but I honestly think these robbers have at least a little sense and probably take a few minutes to scope things out before they try to rob a store.
who needs to “scope things out” when they know that the apd is sitting at the rotary, in the parking lot of the armory, or in the graveyard across from barnes and noble?
all those traffic violators are the real criminals after all.
why does the apd have 6 officers dedicated to “traffic enforcement”
?
