ROCKLAND, Maine — A 30-year-old Tenants Harbor man is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Friday afternoon after being arrested Thursday night for having a two-year sexual relationship with a young girl.
Daniel Breen was charged with unlawful sexual contact and sexual abuse of a minor. The complaints were filed in Rockland District Court, where Breen is scheduled to appear Friday.
An investigation began in August when a convicted sex offender from Connecticut reported to his probation officer that Breen, who was a friend, had admitted to the relationship with a 13-year-old girl, according to an affidavit filed by Deputy John Palmer of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The Connecticut man said he knew from his sexual predator counseling that Breen needed help. The probation officer contacted the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
As part of his investigation, Palmer interviewed the young girl who stated she and Breen had been in a relationship and the last time they had sex was in June.
The deputy located Breen at his place of work and they agreed to meet the next day to talk. The deputy said, however, Breen did not show up and subsequently failed to make himself available for questioning.
Palmer then obtained an arrest warrant and apprehended Breen Thursday night and took him to the Knox County Jail.

Juliet was 13 and look what a lot of trouble she generated for two families. Over four hundred years later people are still talking about it.
