BLUE HILL, Maine — A rollover accident Sunday in Blue Hill resulted in two Sedgwick men suffering minor head injuries and requiring treatment at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.

William Davis, 20, was driving a 1987 Volkswagen Cabrio when he lost control on a curve on South Street just after noon. According to Maine State Police Trooper Greg Roy, Davis was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car when it rolled on its side. A passenger, Brett Gagne, 20, was wearing a seat belt and also suffered a head injury. Both were treated and released by Sunday evening.

Roy said speed was a factor in the accident, but alcohol was not. The vehicle involved was totaled, Roy said.

  1. Tragic,
What is it with ” no seatbelts” and ” ejected from vehicle , pronounced
dead at the scene” , that people haven’t figured out yet ??
Best wishes to the survivors of this crash.

  2. For rolling over an old V-Dub Rabbit convertible, they came out quite well. A lot of good luck (and awakening) for them.

I did that with a 70’s beetle convertible at 65mph, walked away, and was driving it again in a week. Never drove sleepy again!

  3. “Roy said speed was a factor in the accident,”

If the driver chose to drive too fast for the road conditions then this incident would more accurately be called a “crash” rather than an “accident”.

    1. Last I knew weather was interesting on Sunday. Speed limit doesn’t matter when they factor in road/weather conditions.

Have fun w/ what will likely be an exponential increase in any future insurance premiums!
