DIXMONT – Clarice “Reece” Belle Hustus, 83, died Dec. 1, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born March 23, 1929, in Carmel, to the late Clarence and Hazel Belle (Smith) Sylvester.
She grew up in Carmel and attended Carmel schools. Reece brought up her family in Newport and later in North Windham, and was a member of The Maine Beacon Center for Spiritual Living, Gorham. After retiring from the Maine Turnpike Authority, Reece and her husband, Wayne, made their home in Dixmont, near her late daughter, Peggy and son-in-law, Bruce Harris. She enjoyed cross-country skiing, camping and visiting with family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur Emery; second husband, Wayne Hustus; daughter, Peggy Harris; daughter-in-law, Linda Burgess Emery; sister-in-law, Jennie Sylvester; and nephew, Ricky Sylvester. She is survived by her children, the Rev. Linda Holmes and husband, William, Sharon Corson and husband, Gordon, Mark Emery and wife, Joanne, and Timothy Emery; son-in-law, Bruce Harris and wife, Sandra; stepdaughter, Nancy Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Stella Smith and Gloria Brown; grandchildren, Kathryn Vanasse, Daniel Todd Tracy and wife, Theresa, Jennifer Whitey and husband, Kevin, Shane Harris and wife, Nirla, Matthew Harris, Joshua Harris and wife, Jenelle, Amy Sparks and husband, Scott, Angie Elder and husband, Douglas, Christina Parlin and husband, Gary, Daniel Emery, Tyler Emery, Carrie Cressey and husband, Gary, and Timothy James Emery and wife, Heather; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Tracy, Nicholas Whitley, Hannah Whitley, Abigail Whitley, Kathleen Harris, Ainsley Harris, Jordan Sparks, Samuel Sparks, Olivia Elder, Warren “Sonny” Elder, Justin Scott, Manuel Scott, Tirza Cressey, Thomas Cressey, Tyrell Cressey, Kameron Emery, Lily Emery and Jocelyn Emery; great-great-grandchildren, Dana Tracy and Adam Todd Goslee; brothers, Roger Sylvester and wife, Jeanette, and Harrison Sylvester; nieces, Brenda Leighton and Marie Camp; nephews, Michael Sylvester and Wyatt Sylvester; and dear friends, Marilyn Morin and Chuck Percy.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Spring burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
