Some York County residents woke up to rumbling early Tuesday morning confirmed as a small earthquake, according to a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey.
Carrieann Bedwell told the Bangor Daily News Tuesday that the earthquake measured at 2.3 on the Richter scale, and the epicenter was just under 4 miles south of Lake Arrowhead.
Bedwell said over 100 responses were reported to the U.S. Geological Survey’s website from York County residents in the Hollis, Buxton and Waterboro areas saying they felt rumbling and shaking.
“It looks like it had some light shaking,” Bedwell said, “[but] I wouldn’t call it a violent shaking.”
Bedwell said an earthquake measuring at 4.0 on the Richter scale occurred in Hollis in October.

Felt it all the way in Caribou! Just kidding, I am looking forward to something that ties in the Myans, the 21st and any end of the world related story headline to roll through.
There’s only 17 days left :)
And then someone else will come up with another end of the world date.
And only 21 shopping days.
As Poland Spring continues to deplete the Hollis aquifer, expect more quakes.
That’s ridiculous.
Sorry about that. My bad.
Are you seriouis???? Go find a tree to hug. That comment made me laugh so hard I spit my cold suds all over the floor…..
Bait Stevey. How’d it taste? I’d like my tackle back please.
BTW, we all know that earthquakes are caused by an angry God.
And I gave you a like. Merry Christmas.
Pheeewwww…… I was hoping it was a joke..
2cd one down here for me since i moved down this way and I slept through them both…Doesnt that just figure…:)
Are they sure it was really an earthquake rather then a temper tantrum being thrown by a rather rotund individual in The Blaine House?
It was only a 2.3…now that 4.0 on the other hand a few weeks back, I would have to say that was from an individual at The Blaine House and I am not talking about the Dog either.
You are probably correct.
