WATERBORO, Maine — Two York County men are behind bars Thursday after a burglary in which 10 handguns were stolen from a residence, police say.
Nathan Desfosses, 22, of Shapleigh and Travis Wakefield, 22, of Lyman are each facing a charge of Class B burglary, according to York County Maj. Bill King. They are being held at the York County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court Friday.
Deputies were dispatched to a Waterboro residence at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday after a man reported he came home and found two men fleeing from his residence, according to King.
He quickly discovered 10 handguns, eight of which were loaded, had been stolen, King said.
Trooper Matt Williams and his canine partner Landy arrived to track the suspects, and the dog found the guns in the woods while the suspects were spotted a short distance from where the weapons were discovered.
The incident remains under investigation, King said.

THanks to the police dog for tracking those weapons. The situation could have been very bad had those guns and thieves not been found.
This is to the jerks who give me Vote Down even when I write nicely. My thought is for you to grow up .
8 loaded …must be preparing for battle.
Yeah, just another paranoid freak hiding behind some amendment they can barely read much less comprehend. Does anybody wonder how guns get into the hands of criminals ? From incompetent legal gun owners who in most cases should not even be allowed to own a pet.
Because even in a push comes to shove scenario, in a life threatening situation some innocent people are going down with the bad ones. We can’t rely on the police to protect us and you sure as hell better not rely on that well armed militia or your neighbor.
Yeah, 8 out of 10 loaded guns loaded caught my attention as much as the run-of-the-mill break-in — and maybe the idea that these guys maybe knew the guns were there….Did this guy keep a loaded gun by each window or what? Waiting for the damned Commies to come charging over the hill?
