BREWER, Maine — A Brewer woman who was pulled over for an expired registration was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence early Friday, police said.
Elham Khavari, 42, was traveling on South Main Street in the area of Cove Street just after midnight when Officer Tom Tardiff initiated the traffic stop, according to Brewer police Sgt. Tony Pinette.
Not only did Khavari’s vehicle have an expired registration, she was weaving along the roadway, the sergeant said.
Khavari failed field sobriety tests and Tardiff placed her under arrest and brought her to the Penobscot County Jail, Pinette said. She was later released on bail.

To the Defendant, Have your lawyer contact the Brewer PD in writing to request that all notes and videos be preserved immediately. In his former Department in a different County not far away Tardiff left prosecutors just watching as he, in very uncomfortable cross examination by Defense counsel, admitted to destroying field notes which had been requested for preservation by
Defense. Now that he has “relocated” to Brewer’s force there’s a chance that perhaps these same patterns have reemerged.
