AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is saluting the caravan that carries thousands of wreaths from Maine to be placed on graves at Arlington National Cemetery.
In his weekly radio address with first lady Ann LePage, the governor says the caravan of volunteers has made its way from Washington County to Washington, D.C. each year for 20 years. It’s led by Morrill and Karen Worcester who own Worcester Wreath in Harrington.
It’s become an annual pilgrimage for dozens of Maine people, and Ann LePage made the trip last year.
In the Democratic response, Senate President Justin Alfond of Portland calls this a new day for Maine politics as the legislative session starts.
Alfond says he wants to disappoint those who expect a showdown between the Republican governor and Democratic Legislature.

The governor has a weight problem.
Get a life!
You first. How do you know what I meant by the way????
ASSume much? You just did.
Boy that’s original. Assume nothing. It’s not to hard to figure out what you meant.
Still assuming I see. lol!
Troll alert!
You are ready to qualify as a staff writer for the BDN.
I think your looking in a mirror teletuby…
Another wrong assumption. I post regularly and have for a while now. It’s interesting how one (somewhat) benign comment can do…
Have a nice day.
WOW!
I can’t believe Pravda on the Penobscot would donate three whole paragraphs of bandwidth to a neutral piece about our governor, and only two paragraphs to whiny little rich boy Alfond and his democrat politics.
Amazing, to say the least.
Is Alfond calling of the tracker? Or just the usual Dem. sound bites.
I believe the Governor, First Lady Anne and also their two children will be heading to Arlington this year. How convenient that the press left that fact out. Of course, they have to get back to the story of the mural. This bias is absolutely disgusting.
Are they going to Arlington on Maine taxpayer’s money or is he paying himself? This is not a critical trip, and he surely isn’t going to the White House to ask for help. I’m all about honoring veterans, but there are plenty of live ones coming back from the Middle East that need social services and jobs.
Great job, thanks for supporting Veterans Mr. LePage. Baldy would of urinated on a gravestone at Arlington….At least you show respect.
