Amy Libby Buxton

AUGUSTA – Amy Libby Buxton, 26, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Humanity has lost one of its most vibrant souls. Born Oct. 16, 1986, in Augusta, to Jerre and Ann Buxton, Amy was raised on Togus Pond and spent her youth bass fishing and spending time on the lake with her friends.
At Cony she played soccer and basketball, and was an active volunteer peer pal for special education students. After graduating from Cony in 2005, Amy took her motivation to help others and attended nursing school at the University of Maine. Her graduation and nurse pinning from Orono were set for Dec. 15; her mother, Ann, will accept Amy’s nursing pin. Amy’s true passions lay in travel and helping the underdog. She spent two years with her big brother and his wife on an Alaskan adventure, and has traipsed the continent from the Yukon to Costa Rica and Jamaica, all the way from Vancouver to The Gaspe. Amy also spent hours volunteering for animal rescues and fostering pets looking for homes. Working at the hospital, Amy’s aura would light up her patient’s rooms. Kindness and gentleness were the hallmark of the care she provided. Anyone that had the chance to know or work with Amy knows the positive impact she had on the organizations she worked for. Young, smart, and caring, Amy was ready to make a difference; her heart knew no bounds. Her influence stretched beyond Augusta to everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She is loved and will truly be missed.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Delores, and paternal grandparents, Rose and Jerre Buxton. She is survived by her parents, Ann and Jerre; her grandparents, Roland and Karen Michaud of Manchester; her brother, Capt. Benjamin Buxton and his wife, Erin; aunts, Linda Moulton and her husband, Wilder, of Manchester, Darlene Soboleski and her husband, Stan, of Sidney, Marlene Richards and her husband, Jon, of Windsor; and uncles, John Buxton and his wife, Priscilla, of Augusta, and Gary Michaud and his wife, Debbie, of Windsor. She is also survived by her great-aunt and uncle, Madelyn and Mervyn Parmenter of Whitefield; cousins, Heather Ballard, Jonathan Moulton, Jill and Hali Buxton; her soulmate and future life partner, Ryan Jean; and her four-legged companions, Ollie and Melina, who will miss her dearly.
