BRISTOL, Maine — The state medical examiner’s office continues to work to determine the cause of death of a woman in a garage attached to a Bristol home on Sunday, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Lynn Ring, 69, died in the garage after a fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a house on Ocean Side Lane, in the New Harbor section of town. The medical examiner conducted an autopsy on Monday.
Her husband, John Ring, 70, suffered burns to his hands and was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. The fire largely was confined to the garage but did cause some damage to the attached home, McCausland said.
Fire investigators determined the fire started in the garage, where a Mercedes Benz convertible was stored. Both the garage and car were destroyed, according to McCausland.
The home was built two years ago after another fire destroyed the previous building on the property, McCausland said. The cause of that fire was never determined.
“Investigators say they have additional work and interviews to complete before attempting to determine how Sunday’s fire started,” McCausland said.

I have seen photographs of a garage fire that originated in a car due to a faulty phone charger that was left plugged in to the car
