AUGUSTA, Maine — A state worker died Tuesday morning when his truck left the road and struck a utility pole. Police believe he had suffered a medical problem.
John Pearl, 64, of Augusta was driving on Hospital Street near the Glenridge Drive intersection when his GMC pickup hit a utility pole, said Augusta Deputy Chief Jared Mills.
The truck didn’t have significant damage and Pearl didn’t suffer any serious injuries as a direct result of the crash, but he was taken to MaineGeneral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Mills said.
Pearl’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and the results are pending, according to Mills.
“Based on everything at the scene, his condition when we found him, we’re anticipating it’s a medical issue,” Mills said.

R.I.P. sir. Condolences to the family.
Why was the most important part of this story that the man was a state employee?
1 – It was NOT the most important part of the story.
.
2. He was on the job at the time.
Then why are the headline’s first two words “State Worker”?
No where in the article does it say anything about being on the job, but it does state that he was in HIS GMC pickup.
Learn to read.
Who cares? Why is it such a big deal that they put that in the headline?
Just wondering
It is not a big deal. It is common practice for any news story about an employee dying while on the job to call them an employee of the company they were working for at the time of their death.
.
It is a completely manufactured issue to pretend otherwise.
Gee, I guess we are only allowed to know what is in this one article and must bow to your superior “wisdom” huh?
.
He was on the job in a state owned vehicle. Every other time I have every seen a story about a worker dying while on the job it has, of course, given the name of the employer.
.
I do not need to learn to read. but you should learn to think.

I bow to your more complete knowledge, I was commenting on the article in question. The article twice refered to the vehicle in question as HIS and this article said nothing about being on the job.I like many on this board am not all knowing, nor do I subscribe to every news outlet in the state.
