DANFORTH and CARMEL – Dorothy Josephine More, 101, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 12, 2012, at her home in Carmel. She was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Princeton, daughter of Jerome and Helen (Nason) Russell.
She attended and graduated from Danforth High School and Gorham State Normal School. She was the wife of the late Clarence F. “Bud” More and worked with him for many years in their oil delivery business, CF More Oil, Danforth. She was a former member of several organizations, including Danforth Alumni Association, Maine Rebekah’s and Non-Pariel Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron for several years. Dorothy was an avid reader, knitter and fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Surviving are her daughter, Ruth Butterfield of Carmel; her grandchildren, John and Pam Butterfield of Carmel, Cynthia and Jim Pare of Deland, Fla., Laura and Michael Huff of Carmel, Lisa Belyea of Houlton, Christine and Brett Lash of Patten and William More II of Houlton; great-grandchildren, Matthew Belyea and Amie, Micah Belyea, Daniel Buck and Tamara, Joshua and Meg Buck, Peter Buck and Hilary, Jannet Meister, Lee Kelley, John and Priscilla Butterfield II, and Amy Butterfield; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Gerald, Clair and Guy Russell; sister, Ruth Parker; son, William More; and granddaughter, Karole Butterfield.
