AUGUSTA, Maine — A New Jersey truck driver escaped serious injury Monday morning when his rig jackknifed on Interstate 95, according to police.
Rida Elsieidy, 49, was headed north when slick road conditions and poor tires on his Kenmore truck caused him to lose control and jackknife, according to Trooper Derrick Record of the Maine State Police.
The accident, which hindered the early-morning commute, was reported shortly after 8 a.m., just north of the Bond Brook bridge, according to Record.
The trooper said Elsieidy may have been traveling a bit too fast for the road conditions. His cab was stuck on a guardrail with the trailer draped across the travel lane when police arrived on the scene.
Elsieidy was hauling a load of insulation, and was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for treatment of minor injuries.
The truck was a total loss.

The downside is, fleet carriers will say “oh go ahead and make the delivery and we will get to it by end of week”. End of week their story is “well you were willing to drive it that way before, since the tires still hold air, you will continue to pull that trailer”. So the driver is stuck with it on their license that they didnt just walk home and refuse to drive unsafe equipment. Thus he now has an accident and failed pretrip (both driver at fault). Company will fire the driver, and continue to run unsafe equipment.
So Kenmore is done making washers and dryers and is now into trucks ‘eh? Probably should say “Kenworth.” Glad the driver fared OK.
