PENOBSCOT – Donald G. Curtis, 69, died peacefully Dec. 16, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Bucksport High School, class of 1961. He served in the Vietnam War, 1967- 1969. He was employed at Bucksport Paper Mill, worked as a fisherman and as a groundskeeper. Donald enjoyed playing cards and following the horse races.
He was survived by his loving companion of 31 years, Virginia Bailey; a sister, Tiffany Horton and her husband, James, of Bangor; five sons, Arron Wright and his wife, Carla, of Tennessee, Troy Curtis and his wife, Jennifer, of Tennessee, Donald Curtis and his wife, Cathy, of Bath, Mark Grant of Penobscot, Leland Curtis and his companion, Samantha, of Orland; six daughters, Rita Grindle and her husband, Russell, of Blue Hill, Robin Day and her husband, Robert, of Penobscot, Denise DiUbaldi and her husband, Nick, of North Carolina, Heather Szwec and her husband, John, of Ellsworth, Martha Smith and her husband, Rick, of Orland, April Colby and her companion, Kevin, of Bucksport; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; special friends, Norman and Pat Smith of Bucksport and Harold and Jean Butler of Penobscot. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Leland and Hazel Curtis; and a brother, Charles Curtis. Donald touched many lives and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
