PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — A Maine man has been indicted on charges he burglarized Hanscom’s Truck Stop in Portsmouth in July and August.

The defendant, 25-year-old Anthony Carter, was arrested earlier this year after Portsmouth police received an anonymous tip regarding the burglaries.

On July 17, cigarettes, money from an ATM and other property were stolen from the Hanscom’s truck stop on the northbound side of the Route 1 Bypass.

Then on Aug. 20, undisclosed items and money from an ATM were again stolen from that location. Prosecutors say Bypass Gas, the fueling station at the truck stop, was also burglarized that night.

Carter, of Portland, Maine, was arrested in October. He is currently being incarcerated in the Rockingham County House of Corrections.

Carter was indicted this month by a Rockingham County grand jury on three Class A felony burglary charges.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt. Rather, it signifies that a jury found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.

      1. Sounds more mellow, but it’d look terrible on a tee-shirt. “Stop Anonymous Tipping!” =) How’d things go with the recent medical event, btw?

        1. Perhaps it was my wording.
They perform about five of those procedures a month and getting called in to assist in them can come at any hour. Thanx for asking, though. :)

          1. Pardon, the misinterpretation, County. Mid-80’s I managed a 48 unit building, mostly SROs and elders, on Cortes St. One guy worked out of MGH for Bullfinch Temps, and his whole job consisted of sitting there all night with somebody who’d soon pass-on. Of course, being good Yankees, we nicknamed him the “Grim Reaper,” but it was good-natured and made him part-of. Still, I never forgot his job… ACK!
