BELFAST – Donald L. Bonney, 69, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 18, 2012, in Portland. He was born July 21, 1943, in Rockland, a son of the late John and Phyllis (Harriman) Bonney.
Donald served four years in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Boxer. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling several times to Alaska, and enjoyed golfing with his groups of friends. Donald was a lifelong member of American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars posts of Belfast.
He is survived by his son, Eric Bonney and his wife, Mary, of Swanville; grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Bonney of Swanville and Cassie Bonney of Albion; stepgrandson, Derek Curtis of Swanville; his companion of 16 years, Betty Miliano of Belfast; and stepsons, Trevor and Blake Miliano of Belfast and Tony Arsenault of Homer, Alaska. He will also be missed by his brother, Eugene Bonney of Belfast.
At the request of Donald, there will be no services held at this time. Memorial bonations may be made to American Legion Hall Charities or VFW Charities. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
