GARLAND – Jayne Leslee Stone, 55, died Jan. 4, 2013, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Feb. 17, 1957, in Dexter, a daughter of Raymond Lee and Edith (Palmer) Stone.
Jayne was born into a loving family. They made sure that her daily life was as uncomplicated as possible. Jayne’s happiness at doing all those things she enjoyed was evident. The simplest things in life were significant to Jayne. She loved listening to music, especially country western, watching T.V., celebrating holidays, and always looked forward to celebrating her birthday with friends and family. Jayne was an avid cross-stitcher and took great pride in her work. She also enjoyed piecing together jigsaw puzzles – the more complicated the better. For many summers Jayne looked forward to attending the weekly matinee performances at Lakewood Theater with her mother and good friend Mabel Olson. Jayne attended school at Little Red School House, Dover-Foxcroft. It was there that she learned many life skills, which helped her live a happy and productive life. She took part in many activities, which enriched her life such as bowling, ceramics, woodworking, cooking and sewing. She learned to read and looked forward every day to reading the newspaper. She also looked forward to her father bringing home the TV Guide each week for her to read. Jayne enjoyed taking part in the Special Olympics and especially enjoyed attending the closing dance with her friends.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Peter Prescott of Dexter; niece, Sarah Enaire and husband, Matthew; great-nephew, Dylan Enaire; great-niece, Mariah Enaire, all of Portland; aunt, Evelyn Lawrence of Pittsfield; uncle and aunt, Carl and Lorraine Palmer of Exeter; and many special cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Lee and Edie; grandparents, Leonard and Clara Stone, and Lester Palmer and Vera Palmer Gilbert; uncles and aunts, Paul and Helen Stone, and John and Betty Palmer. Jayne’s family extends special thanks to the staff of Hibbard Nursing Home for the excellent care she received for the past five years.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating. Spring burial will be at West Garland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Patient Activity Fund, care of Hibbard Nursing Home, P.O. Box 159, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
