DEXTER – Pauline “Polly” Knowlton, 89, passed away Jan. 21, 2013, at Dexter Health Care after a long illness. She was born June 16, 1923, in Parkman, a daughter of Fred and Minnie (Kierstead) Hayes.
She attended Sangerville High School. She also worked for many years as a certified nurse’s aide and retired from Pride Manufacturing, Guilford. Polly was a life member of Conner-Trafton Post No. 119 American Legion Auxiliary and was a past president and secretary. She was also past fifth district president and secretary/treasurer. She was a member of First Universalist Church of Dexter.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy; sons, Brian Colbry and wife, Barbara, of New Jersey, Brent Colbry and wife, Deborah, of Etna and Malcolm “Mickey” Colbry and wife, Debbie, of Dover-Foxcroft; daughter, Diana Baird of Porter; stepson, Brian Knowlton; stepdaughters, Nancy-Jo Brewer and Heidi Langan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and five brothers. The family would like to thank the staff of Dexter Health Care and Dr. Robert Lodato for their fine care of Polly.
Burial services will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Services will be announced at a later time. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
