PORTLAND, Maine — Police are seeking a suspect who brandished a handgun in a robbery at an ATM on Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Scott Pelletier said Friday officers responded to a TD Bank machine at 2 Portland Square at 5:35 p.m.

When officers arrived, a 36-year-old woman from Falmouth stated she was forced to withdraw money from her bank account at gunpoint, Pelletier said.

After the suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone from the victim, he fled on foot, the lieutenant said.

The suspect is described as a white male between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 160-180 pounds, according to Pelletier. He was wearing jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt under a light gray hooded sweatshirt and a black winter mask that revealed only his eyes.

Anyone with information on this robbery should call Portland police at 874-8533.
